eLearning Benefits

eLearning has definite benefits over traditional classroom training. While the most obvious are the flexibility and the cost savings from not having to travel or spend excess time away from work, there are also others that might not be so obvious.

• Cost-effective -- The eLearning content created here at FCU has been created in a "one to many" process where, once the modules are created, a single module can be viewed by hundreds of individuals at the same time. Therefore, we are able to deliver FCU eLearning content to agricltural lenders at a commodity price -- much like a local utility company delivers electricity or natural gas. The high cost of such a service is spread across many customers to keep the cost for the services low for each participant.
  
  
• It's self-paced - Most eLearning programs can be taken when needed. The Flash-based content here at FCU is delivered via a module-based design allowing the eLearner to go through smaller chunks of training that can be used and absorbed for awhile before moving on to the next concept.
  
  
• It moves faster - According to an article by Jennifer Salopek in "Training and Development Magazine," eLearning courses progress up to 50% faster than traditional classroom courses.
